Westside aims to provide a safe and enjoyable recreation experience for all guests.
Daily schedules and operating guidelines are specific to each facility area so be sure to review when planning your visit!
Gate entry provides access to all facility areas during designated public times and requires a paid admission.
Westside is intended for recreational use. External service providers (personal trainers, coaches, physiotherapists, etc.) are not permitted to conduct their business using Westside’s facilities.
Be sure to bring your personal items to enjoy our many facility features including swim wear, goggles, appropriate footwear, skates, helmets, skateboard, etc. Westside is pleased to offer:
Complimentary day-use lockers (bring your own lock or lock rentals are available for $1)
Complimentary basketball and badminton equipment lending (photo ID is required as collateral)
Complimentary certified PFDs (personal flotation devices) for Aquatic Park use
Waterproof pool pants and swim diapers are available for purchase from the Customer Service Desk
Towels rentals are available from the Customer Service Desk
The safety of youth in our facility is a priority.
Children under 13 years must be accompanied at all times while in the facility by a paid individual 16 years or older, or have completed the Westside Youth Facility Access Orientation.
Maximum number of children per adult is 5.
Groups of 5 or more children must be pre-booked a minimum of 1 week in advance.
The Aquatic Park has specific guidelines to meet various legislation and safety requirements. Be sure to review our posted signage and please note:
Children under 3 years must wear a waterproof pool pant over a swim diaper.
Hot tub access is limited to participants 7 years or older.
Steam room access is limited to participants 13 years or older.
Waterslide access is limited to participants 42" or taller.
A certified PFD (personal flotation device) brought from home or loaned free of charge from Westside may be used. Water wings and other flotation devices are not permitted.
All shinny participants must wear full equipment.
Adults participating in family shinny must be accompanied by a child under 13 years.
Helmets are mandatory for public skating participants under 10 years.
The Climbing Wall has specific guidelines to meet legal and safety requirements. Please note:
All participants must sign a waiver form in the presence of Westside staff. Parent or legal guardian is required to sign for participants under 18 years.
Climbing Wall access is limited to participants 5 years and older.
A Climbing Wall Monitor is available during all open climbing times to belay (wait times will vary depending on volume).
Fitness Centre access is limited to participants 18 years and older.*
*Fitness opportunities for youth 10-17 years are available in the Youth Wellness Centre.
Ice Skating (September to April)
Helmets are mandatory for participants under 10 years.
All individuals accessing the ice surface require skates.
In-Line Skating (May to August)
Helmets are mandatory for all participants.
The Skatepark operates seasonally from May to September.
Hours of operation are weather-dependent.
Westside staff are onsite during all hours of operation.
All ages are welcome and appropriate language and behavior is expected.
Appropriate footwear and CSA-approved helmets are mandatory. Knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards are highly recommended.
Bikes, in-line skates, scooters, motorized vehicles and pets are not allowed in the Skatepark.
Youth 10-17 years are invited to complete our orientation and obtain the privilege of accessing the Youth Wellness Centre.
The Youth Wellness Centre offers shared use (adult access) during designated times only. Check out our schedule for details.
