Planning tips and general information to make your visit to Westside Recreation Centre enjoyable for everyone! |
GENERAL
- All guests are required to swipe their valid member identification card or pay an admission at the time of entry.
- Children under 13 years of age must be accompanied at all times while in the facility by a paid individual 16 years of age or older, or have completed the Westside Youth Facility Access.
- Access to the Fitness Floor is limited to individuals 18 years of age or older. Youth 10 - 17 years of age must complete the Westside Youth Wellness Centre Access to obtain the privilege of accessing the Youth Wellness Centre.
- Groups of 5 or more children must be pre-booked. Bookings can be made a minimum of 1 week in advance.
- Public drop-in access is intended for recreational use. External service providers (including, but not limited to, personal trainers, coaches and physiotherapists) are not permitted to conduct their business using Westside’s facilities.
- Daily schedule and operating guidelines are specific to each facility area. Guests are encouraged to verify schedules and guidelines.
- Schedules are subject to change on statutory holidays and holiday weekends. Please check for updates or call 403-531-5875 Ext 0.

AQUATICS
- Children under 7 years of age are not permitted in the hot tub regardless of parent supervision.
- Children under 13 years of age are not permitted in the steam room regardless of parent supervision.
- Water wings and other flotation devices are not permitted at Westside, PFD (personal flotation device) and lifejackets only.
- Children under 3 years of age must wear a waterproof pool pant over a swim diaper.
- You must be 42” tall to ride the waterslide.
ARENA
- Skaters must wear full equipment during drop-in shinny times.
- Family shinny time requires an adult to be accompanied by a child under 13 years of age.
CLIMBING WALL
- Participants must be 6 years of age or older to access the climbing wall.
- In order to climb without parental supervision, participants must have completed the Climbing Wall Orientation and be 13 years of age or older.
- Parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver form in the presence of Westside climbing staff for all participants under 18 years of age.
- Climbing beyond 9 feet requires the use of ropes and other safety equipment as well as a second user who possesses a Westside certified belay card.
LEISURE ICE AREA
- Ice Skating (Sept - Apr)
Children under 10 years of age must wear helmets.
- In-Line Skating (May - Aug)
Helmets are mandatory for all participants.
SKATEPARK - (May – Sept)
- The Skatepark is for all ages and appropriate language and behavior is expected.
- The Skatepark is unsupervised and is used at an individual’s own risk.
- The hours of operation are from Dawn to Dusk only. The park is closed at all other times.
- The use of helmets is mandatory. Knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards are highly recommended when skateboarding or in-line skating.
- No bikes, scooters or motorized vehicles are allowed in the skatepark.
